A big disappointment

The beach

First of all, it is not a 4* hotel! In my opinion it’s a max 2* hotel. We are a couple, and planned a 3 weeks trip to Cuba. One week was at Sercotel Club, the one we thought it will be the most relaxing part of our trip, but instead it was a very big disapointment. At first we booked a bungalow with sea view, but when we got there the sea was to be seen only from outside the bungalow. No problem we said, but our problems just started. After the first night when it rained, we woke up floaded. It was raining inside the bungalow! There was water everywhere, in our luggage, in our bed, inside the tv...We asked for another room in the morning. It took them one full day to give us another room, and it was a standard concrete one, but we were happy about it thinking it won’t get flooded. We didn’t got flooded ,but instead got some nice friends : bugs, frogs and other insects every night, even with closed doors and windows. The air conditiong was on, and had to be turned off from the electricity panel along with all the lights in the room, and bonus - when it was on, all the water from condense was discharged inside the room: about 5l in a couple of hours. The rooms look very cheap, low quality furniture , low quality services and food, low quality everything. Everyone from the stuff expect to be tipped, each time you wanted something. In november at least,I advice you to take a good repellant with you. There are lots of mosquitos, because across the street from the hotel there is a huge swamp. I do not recommend this place! I know Cuba is a poor country and the hurricane affected it, I don’t expect for much, but this hotel is a shame. Too Expensive for what they offer. Thanks for reading.

The proximity to the kite surf beach

We have had a very bad experience here. On arrival to this $$$ all inclusive resort yesterday afternoon we asked after some food. The concierge sent us across to the pool bar where there was only a burger available. Directly under our noses there was fly infested meat and cheese completely uncovered. The bread was also out on the dirty bench with no covering and flys all over them. We were given no choice (after a 5 hr drive) than to eat what was available. Two of us decided not to run the risk of eating this, one of us got food poisoning and is very unwell. On arrival to our rooms, there was garbage scattered outside the front door including 2x used toothbrushes, wipes and other rubbish. The buffet has been very poor quality and off putting due to food on benches and lack of hygiene. When asking for a coffee at lunch, we were denied a coffee. We appreciate your assistance on this. This is a very expensive ‘resort’, the most expensive accommodation we decided to spend over here in beautiful Cuba and we are so disappointed.

The beach is beautiful and the staff was great!

The beach is beautiful and the staff was great! Food was ok, always find something good (do not go to the so-called restaurant with pre-booking, because the food is terrible there). They made extreme effort amd excellent job after the hurricane, so the garden became really nice. Facilities like kite school and quad rental, gym available on the spot, diving and snorkelling at hotel melia only 10 minutes walk along the beach.

The sheets were not changed during our stay although we have asked for it several times and the room did not feel very clean, but it can be because od the hurricane. Lights were dim in the bungallow at the beach. Although it was supposed to get water in your room every day, we only get once and we had to ask for it at the reception, and many times they said they don't have it, only the maids have them. Easier to get two bottles of rum than water:) Really did not like the musicians by dinner who come to your table without asking and expecting for tips only. I don't mind if a hotel organises music for dinner but this way it only makes the guest uncomfortable. Internet is really slow and only available in the lobby, but at least you have some if you really want to be online. These are only small issues though.

The view only

So..where should I start from...we arrived at 12:30.the rooms were not ready so they told us to wait until 14:00 we went back at 14:00 they told us to come back at 15:00 every hous same until 17:00. We went in the room we had no electricity and no hot water, no facilities in the room what so ever( towels, minibar, toilettereis, nothing. Every time we needed to wait in a line at least half an hour for a coffee (many times we gave up). For lunch and dinner we were waiting also in a line to eat ..whatever was left. We stayed for 5days and the food was same every day . And, I mean same, cause in our last day, after having our usual grilled fish for dinner we good food poisoning. The morning when we had to leave we thought it s because of the hundreds of mosquitos that we had in the room. After a while on the way to Havana we started to feel really bad. So our last 2 days in Havana we are spending in our hotel room, because we are sick. Our beach towels have been stolen from our patio, and they told us that we have to pay for them , cause it was our duty to take care because they can t provide proper security.

Fantastic location, stayed in one of the junior familiy suites.

Location location - it doesn't get any better

The hotel needs general repair and care-taking. Ironically, they kept serving soup in the restaurant but they had no spoons (nor for the youghurt in the morning)

Beach near the property is great and really easily accessible. Good bar service, friendly staff.

Wide choice of food at the buffer restaurant but not of the best quality. Room as per description, not the newest furniture or cleanliness, appropriate to the price.
